Pain with Placement

Some women will experience pain with placement; however most women state that placement goes as well or better than expected. If sounding or an IUC placement attempt is too painful, consider arranging for a follow-up ultrasound to rule out malpositioning. If a second attempt for placement is needed (woman does not tolerate the first attempt) consider trying with a smaller device.
